HRIC's Zhou Fengsuo Speaks at Brown University China Summit
Last week, HRIC Executive Director Zhou Fengsuo spoke on a panel at Brown University, titled “Across the Strait: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives” (跨越海峡: 历史与现代观点) on Taiwan-China relations alongside four academic experts in the field. The discussion covered various perspectives on cross-strait relations and addressed some of the most pressing concerns in the region.
Director Zhou spoke about his expectations for Taiwan's democracy from the perspective of his own work and that of the Chinese democratic movement. He also expressed his hope that the international community will provide Taiwan with support and international status. The student attendees responded positively and were engaged in the in-depth Q&A discussion following the panel. HRIC is honored to have been included in this event, particularly considering the recent concerns over the level of influence the Chinese government has over similar activities on U.S. campuses. We are grateful to the student organizers at Brown University for putting on such a meaningful and inspiring event.
