Remembering Scott Greathead, Lifelong Advocate for Human Rights
Human Rights in China is saddened to announce the recent passing of our board member and friend Scott Greathead on August 17, at the age of 78. His long legal career established him as a staunch defender of human rights around the world, in particular representing the victims of the Salvadorian regime in the 1980s and advocating for human rights both in Latin America and in China. He cared deeply about justice and the victims of repressive regimes, and devoted himself to alleviating their suffering through persistent advocacy and support for organizations such as HRIC and China Labor Bulletin. As a member of the HRIC board for more than 20 years, he contributed invaluable insights to our work and was a true steadfast ally in the fight for Chinese human rights. Beyond his work, Scott was a kind and thoughtful colleague, friend, and father who will be greatly missed.
