On October 15, the Chinese community “real_China_irl,” a popular forum for Chinese dissidents on social media platform Reddit, was permanently banned. The suspicious circumstances around the ban, as well as Tencent's investments in Reddit, have led to suspicion that Reddit caved under pressure from the Chinese government.
